Chapter 3: The Pathology of Altruism
3.1 Empathy Out of Control
3.1.1 The Destruction of the Boundary
In engineering, “Tolerance” is the allowable limit of variation. If you make your tolerances too wide, the machine rattles itself to death.
The West has made its moral tolerance so wide that it has become Pathological.
They have elevated Empathy above Logic, Justice, and Self-Preservation.
- The “Feelings” Filter: They no longer ask “Is this true?” or “Is this sustainable?” They ask “Does this make anyone feel bad?”
- The Madness of Virtues: As Chesterton noted, a virtue that is isolated from the rest of the system becomes a vice. Empathy without boundaries is just Self-Destruction. Witness the Western city that allows open-air drug use and crime because “punishing them would be unkind.” They are destroying the “High Trust” environment for everyone to soothe the feelings of the few.
3.2 The Supply and Demand of Victimhood
3.2.1 The Market for Oppression
In the West, Victimhood is Capital. It is the only currency that matters in the “Secular Theology.”
If you are a victim, you have moral authority. If you are an “Oppressor” (White, Male, Successful, Traditional), you have zero authority.
- The Economic Principle: When you reward a behavior, you get more of it.
- Manufactured Supply: Because the demand for “Racism” and “Oppression” is high (it’s needed to fuel the outrage machine), but the actual supply in the modern West is low, the market must manufacture Fake Inventory. (e.g., The “Jussie Smollett” phenomenon).
They are desperately searching for “Bugs” in the social fabric so they can “fix” them and feel virtuous. If they can’t find a bug, they will create one. It is a system that needs to be broken to feel like it is working.
3.3 Victimhood as Currency
3.3.1 Trading Pain for Power
This has created a bizarre Caste System of Suffering.
- Intersectionality: This is the “Ledger” where they track who is the most oppressed. The more “marginalized” labels you can collect, the higher your “Moral Credit Score.”
- The Inversion of Strength: In a healthy civilization (the old East or the old West), strength, competence, and stoicism were the goals. In the modern Whitemind, Weakness, Trauma, and Fragility are the goals.
The Builder looks at this and sees a Systemic Incentive for Failure. A society that rewards the “Broken” and punishes the “Strong” is a society that is actively de-engineering itself. It is a building that is trying to turn its steel beams into balsa wood because “steel is too aggressive.”
